Sridhar is an engineer by education but an environmentalist by passion and practice. Main work is in the areas of Sustainable Agriculture, Agro Ecology & Food Sovereignty, Environmental Policy & Advocacy, Ecosystems, Land Use & the Climate Crisis.
Presently, Sridhar functions in/as a Steering Committee member @ Alliance for Sustainable and Holistic Agriculture (ASHA-Kisan Swaraj), India; consultant @ Asar Social Impact Advisors, a Climate Action group based in Bangalore, India; director @ Thirunelly Agri Producer Company (TAPCo - a farmer producer organisation based in Wayanad, Kerala); advisory board member @ Agro Ecology Fund, a multi-donor fund supporting agro-ecological practices and policies; member of the board @ GRAIN (an international non-profit non-governmental organization working to support small farmer and social movements sustaining community-controlled and biodiversity-based food systems); director @ Thou Media House.
Earlier, he functioned in/as a coordinator(Policy & Campaign) from 2006-2019 at Save our Rice Campaign-India (a multi-partner project, that worked on indigenous paddy conservation and organic farming activities in 6 states); a programme director at Thanal (a voluntary organization, based in Kerala, working on matters related to Environment, Agriculture and Climate change); an advisor @ Consumer Research, Education, Action, Training and Empowerment (CREATE) Trust in Tamilnadu; a coordinator @ Coalition for a GM Free India (a nation-wide movement to address concerns around Genetic Modification in agriculture); a coordinator @ Kerala Paristhithi Aikya Vedhi (a state-wide collective of environment groups and individuals);
Sridhar was the principal researcher in two projects under the Kerala Research Project on Local Level Development (KRPLLD) at the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Trivandrum. He works closely on policies related to agriculture, food, environment and land use, and has been on policy committees for governments at various times. He works closely with various agriculture and environmental groups across India, and more specifically in the southern states. He is a mentor/advisor for various youth based groups as well as eco-centric startups and enterprises. He regularly writes for various media on environment, agriculture, climate and development issues and policies. He authored two books related to environment and resource use. He also co-authored in the publication ‘A Green Print for Sustainable Kerala – Lessons for Existence’.
